Secure Image vs CopySafe Web vs Copysafe PDF
The choice of using Secure Image or CopySafe Web depends on the level of
protection desired and your viewing market.
While CopySafe Web offers the most secure protection from all avenues of
copying and saving, it is supported in Windows only and cannot be
viewed using Mac or Linux web browsers. Depending on what you are
presenting, the rigorous security provided by CopySafe Web may be a
deterrent to the receptiveness of your display. CopySafe Web is only
recommended as the most secure solution as it safeguards from screen
capture and Printscreen.
Secure Image cannot protect from screen capture but it is effective
against the most common threats excluding screen capture and
Printscreen.
One of the most annoying threats to intellectual property today is
search engines and site grabbers. Google image search enables anyone
to spider the web for images using keywords, and if an image is named
appropriately (as most do because it makes for easy identification)
all matches are given on a page of thumbnails with a direct link to
the main image. Google is not the only search engine providing this
service and our research shows that there are too many servers online
dedicated to spidering and collecting images for intelligence, clip
art and piracy.
There are also too many software programs designed specifically for
grabbing complete web sites. Some will even publish your web site as
document so that it can be read offline and distributed to others.
Both Secure Image and CopySafe Web use image encryption with domain lock
which prevents the images from being displayed away from your web
site. While domain lock will enable the same encrypted image to be
used on several sites (your licensed sites) the recommended use by
nominating only one site at the time of encryption which encrypts your
licence key into the image itself.
While Secure Image does not protect from screen capture, it will
prevent direct downloads of your images and it is viewable in ALL web
browsers.
How does domain lock work? Our encrypted images cannot be viewed
outside of our security applet which also checks for a licence key.
The licence key is encrypted by algorithm and only the security applet
knows the sequence. If the licence key does not match the web site
that is displaying the image, no image is shown.CopySafe PDF was
specially designed to protect PDF documents from all methods of copy
and reproduction. It is the only solution that will protect from all
threats including Printscreen and screen capture.
