Access to DRM tagged Copysafe PDF documents is assigned to unique computer ID and operative remotely. For example if I email the document to 2 people they will both get a copy of the file, but each can only open the document if: 1. they have an "approved" account in the DRM database 2. they are using the computer that is registered to their account. A typical scenario might be that to publish a DRM protected document, you can add the users to the database (or they can sign up online) and then when you upload and convert the document you assign access rights to individuals or groups. Then you can send out an email with the download link or the document attached, plus instructions for activating their account and registering the computer that they want to use. Computer registration can be completed from an online form (if they have the plugin installed for their web browser) or they can run the validation tool which gets their unique ID and submits it to the database. Once their account is registered/validated they can view the documents that you send without further ado. The user will need to have an account approved for the group that you nominate when converting the document. The document properties and user rights can be changed at any time with immediate effect. For example, even if they already have the document, if you reassign the document rights or the users rights they will no longer be able to open and view the document.     Back to Top
